Day Five

Today marks the last day of the first week of school. And it is greatly needed. Unfortunately, I work all weekend. It’s a shame because it’s supposed to be a beautiful three-day weekend. But oh well, I’m not going to complain. 

It was another really slow school day. We had a quiz in Current Events, (I got an 80 on it. Oh well…) and the we mocked Bill O’Riley. Fun! Calculus is starting to get a little difficult. If I don’t get organized in this class I’m screwed.

French, however, was quite entertaining. From discussing cars that talked (“La voirture?” “Oui, la voix!”) and a horse named Green Hat, I can’t say it was a bad French class.

In addition to today’s slow school day, today was my parents wedding anniversary. (Congrats!) So I spent my evening in front of the TV downstairs watching Star Wars and eating a hot pocket. Man, I need a life.

Day Four

A day of a hoarse voice and the feeling of cotton balls shoved up ones ears is certainly not the greatest, but it was worth it to be rows away from Rivers and the band last night. I apologize to anyone who is reading this who isn’t a fan of Weezer; next week their newest album Hurley comes out, so I’ll be mentally preparing for that—by shouting like a little school girl when there’s a leak of course. 

This morning though was insane. Every morning, I go over to Kelly’s house so that we can walk to the bus stop together, and then eventually when I get a car in a month-ish, drive to school. So this morning, we walked out of her house and my dad starts to scream like a little girl! All of a sudden, this monstrous groundhog emerges from underneath my dad’s car with a bloody nose; he ran over the thing and it lived! I swear it must have been the size of two large cats. Neither Kelly, her mom, nor I knew what to say, so we just sort of watched. It was not the best way to start off a school day.

School was uneventful. In Current Events we discussed how the Jawas in Iraq are going to kill us (it’s true; look it up on Wikipedia) and somehow related that to Obama’s speech about Iraq that he gave on Monday. I for one thought it was great speech. President Obama did not declare victory nor did he not give our troops justice. It was a good idea to mention the economy and education, as that is what is currently on the minds of Americans. 

Now back to our regular, politics-free scheduled program.

Today also marked the Code of Conduct assembly and meant that LaPorta was going to reveal his infamous theme. Two years ago it was “Finish Strong” (…in bed) and last year was “Our Purpose” (More commonly known as “Our Porpoise”). So what could this years theme possibly be? Simple: “Freedom to…” Of course, the administrators also had their own theme which was “Compliance,” so I think we should just create our own tee-shirts that say “Freedom to be Complacent.” Or other things too. We’ll see.

Day Three - Weezer!

I could talk about school today, but why would I do that when I went to go see one of the greatest bands on earth? That’s right; today at the Allentown Fair was Weezer. And I’m not going to lie, it was FANTASTIC!

After newspaper, and taking home Daniel and Haroon, I went over to my uncles house where he was arguing with his college friend Ben about what bars I could legally get in to. And so started the long day until the concert. My Uncle is a hardcore Weezer fan and has been since 1994. To say that is actually an understatement, so I know this concert meant a lot to both me and him. Him in the respect that it’s his favorite band ever, and me because it was my first concert ever.

We spent about an hour at the bar (I sat there with my cup of soda while they all; except the designated drivers, drank.) we went to the fair, grabbed something to eat, and then made our way to the concert. When we got there the opening band, The Gaslight Anthem was wrapping up, but from what I heard they weren’t half bad. Then after 45 minutes of a transition, Weezer came on. They played all the best and greatest songs and certainly did not disappoint. I took a lot of video and pictures, so I’ll post some of that on here when I get the chance.

Rivers is as nerdy as people say, but it’s what makes the band awesome. After their first song, Rivers demanded that the fan in the audience give him a giant, pink gorilla stuffed animal, which he then proceeded to sing to. The opened with Hash Pipe and wrapped up with My Name is Jonas. In the middle they had Kids/Poker Face, Perfect Situation, Undone (with a special Allentown twist), and I Want You To, just to name a few.

So for a first concert, I must say this: SUCCESS!

Day Two

I had an entire entry posted up on my iPod touch and it didn’t even save a draft or publish. That’s what happens when you rely on technology other than your computer I suppose. 

Today wasn’t a very eventful day. Last night, the Iron Pigs actually won against the Scranton Yankees which was surprising. Still the game went on forever—it was about the 3rd inning around 8:45. That’s a long game.

First block, the annoying senior, her almost offical title, was absent. Making it a much more peaceful class. In Fierro’s class, he almost ripped Kyle Spina’s pants off and complained about the lack of regular cheeseburgers at McDonald’s (sorry?). It was a funny rant really, and it was nice to know which product that was more popular that he was talking about. I’m going to go off on a limb and say I prefer McDoubles. 

I worked today which wasn’t that bad. I was up at the front counter the entire time and had a few issues, but I finally mastered making a decent ice cream cone. Go me!

In better less boring news, 24 hours until Weezer. :D

Day One

While the end of the summer marks the start of school, it also marks the restarting of updates to the blog. In addition, it marks the school bus’ daily, lame journey to Vo-Tech, which is where I am writing this entry.

Today I started off my day as a junior in my dreaded homeroom, the library. Luckily homeroom is only a monthly gathering and I won’t need to spend that much time around that resource known as a “resource.”

Afterwards, I went up to Current Events with good ole’ Mr .Tocci. This class not only looks easy (I can easily voice my opinion), I’m also with a bunch of awesome people in my class, including Joey (BonBon), Adam, Luisa, Courtney, and Julie. Also, there’s an obnoxious senior (She will remain nameless) who tried her hardest to piss Tocci off. I believe it will only be a few days before he gets pissed and starts flipping over desks. :)

Also in my schedule lineup is Honors Physics and AP Calc, with Mr. Fierro and Mr. Young respectively. Both teachers are awesome, so those two classes will be nice. But one thing is for sure: I need to re-memorize the unit circle! Sorry Mr. Kolb! Finally, I endedy day with French with Mad Stan. And I think that class speaks for itself.

As for later tonight, I’m going to an Iron Pigs game where it is expected that they will lose. Shock, right?

PS. I got cupcakes from Courtney today, which makes her forever awesome. :)
